Girl Scouts at the Capitol - Education Week at the Hawaii State Capitol

Join Girl Scouts from across Hawaii for a special day at the State Capitol during Education Week, where students, educators, and youth organizations are recognized for their leadership and contributions to our communities. This is a unique opportunity for girls to experience civic leadership in action, meet lawmakers, and see how government works in Hawaii.
Girl Scouts attending will join the House of Representatives floor session, where girls may receive special recognition for their leadership, service, and community impact.

* Bronze Award Girl Scouts

Silver Award Girl Scouts
* Gold Award Girl Scouts
Other Girl Scouts and families are also welcome to attend and show their support.
This is an exciting opportunity for girls to experience democracy in action, represent the Girl Scout community, and see how young leaders can help shape the future of Hawaii.
Schedule
10:30 AM | Meet at the Girl Scouts of Hawaii Council Office
11:00 AM | Walk together to the Hawaii State Capitol. Check-in, brief Capitol orientation, bathroom break.
12:00 PM | Attend the House of Representatives Floor Session. Girl Scouts may be recognized during the session for their leadership and service.
1:00 - 2:00 PM Meet Representative Justin Woodson / Capitol Tour (Optional)
In collaboration with HawaiiKidsCAN, Girl Scouts will have the opportunity to participate in an optional Capitol tour and connect with Representative Justin Woodson, Chair of the House Education Committee.
Girls are encouraged to prepare a few questions about policy or bills they are following, especially those participating in Girls in Policy. It's a great chance to practice civic leadership and ask questions directly to someone helping shape education policy in Hawaii.
Returning to the GSH Office: GSH staff will guide groups back to the Council Office at 1:00 PM and 2:00 PM.
Important Notes
* Adult chaperones are required for Daisy, Brownie, and Junior Girl Scouts.
* Adult chaperones are required to bring a State ID
* Girl Scout uniforms or council shirts are highly encouraged
