Our CEO

Shari Chang comes from a long line of Girl Scouts and was a Girl Scout in four different states and one foreign country due to her family's travels. Her passion for bringing innovative programming to all girls in Hawai`i over the past 8 years has led to her biggest accomplishment the construction of the STEM Center for Excellence at Paumalū. The STEM Center for Excellence at Paumalū is a sprawling 135 -acre living laboratory located on Oahu’s North Shore that will provide year-round opportunities in cyber security, astronomy, robotics, computer coding, botany, chemistry, environmental stewardship, and more.  The Center provides hands-on STEM programming that drives girls toward education and career choices in the field of STEM and teaches them how STEM skills can make the world a better place. Girl Scouts of Hawai`i is changing the workforce pipeline in STEM to meet the urgent need for female voices, engagement, and leadership in the fastest-growing sector of the U.S. economy.

Prior to joining Girl Scouts of Hawai`i Ms. Chang was a senior executive in the tourism industry becoming their first female senior executive at their corporation in airlines and resorts overseeing a worldwide sales, marketing, and revenue management team. She has received numerous honors during her career including being named one of the “Top 100 Women in Travel” nationwide for 7 consecutive years and the only female to be honored in three different sectors: Hotel and Resorts, Airlines, and Destination Marketing. A finalist for Hawai`i Business Leader of the year for two years she most recently was honored as a 2022 Nonprofit Leader in Hawaii.
