The recent wildfires across Maui have been nothing short of devastating and the situation on the ground has been moving quickly. We know that several communities in Maui are deeply impacted, displaced, and struggling. We have learned of Maui Girl Scout families that have sadly lost their homes and belongings. Thankfully, all Girls Scouts and their families are safe and accounted for, but Maui Girl Scouts need your support. The loss of life and property throughout our island has been devasting. It will take many months before they can return home or find normalcy in their lives, and Girl Scouts will be here for them. Know that we are mobilizing through our community partners to identify the best ways to assist our fellow Girl Scouts.
As is the Girl Scout way, we’ve received an outpouring of aloha, offers of kindness, and concern from everyone, including Girl Scouts across Hawai`i and the nation. As families try to heal and move forward, we want them to know that we are here to support them. As the offers of support come in, there are a number of ways you can support your fellow Girl Scouts and the Maui 'ohana during this difficult time.

The recovery effort has barely begun. Over the next few weeks, we will continue to assess the needs of the families in our Council. We will make updates with information on our website.
Mahalo Nui Loa to the various friends, family, colleagues, Girl Scout Councils and Troops from all over the nation reaching out to us. You have helped remind us of the true sisterhood of Girl Scouting. Thank you to everyone who has and continues to support those impacted by the wildfires. We appreciate the outpouring of support, concern, and willingness to help our Maui 'ohana.
In the midst of tragedy, it’s so comforting to know that our Girl Scout sisterhood is strong. We are hearing from so many Girl Scouts locally and across the country how people have sprung into action to support the Maui community. Mahalo for all the trips to Costco, lemonade stands, opening your homes to displaced residents, donating cookie funds, volunteering to organize goods, and planning service projects to benefit the Maui Community. To our Girl Scouts, Volunteers, Troops, Alum, Lifetime Members, Staff, Board Members, sister Girl Scouts and Councils all across the country and everyone who has opened your hearts to help Maui – we are so proud of you and how you are making the world a better place! Please share your stories of how you’ve helped Maui. Girl Scouts have and will continue to positively impact the world through hana pono – the good works of us all. We are creating a Maui Sisterhood patch where all proceeds will go to the Girl Scouts of Hawai`i Maui Relief Fund – which will be launched in the coming weeks.

For the families impacted by the wildfires, Girl Scouts of Hawai`i is here to help with her Girl Scout experience. Everything Girl Scouts do builds their curiosity, kindness, and can-do spirit. And as they earn badges, help their community, and deepen their friendships, they’ll also have a blast. It’s what Girl Scouting is all about.
