Join us for an afternoon snorkel tour at Kealakekua Bay State Park!
At Kealakekua Bay, an endless rainbow of blue hues color the water. In the protective embrace of a dark lava shoreline, an underwater world of magic and mystery is revealed. As the only underwater state park on Hawaii's Big Island, with no paved roads leading to its sparkling shore, this marine sanctuary boasts pristine water conditions. Kealakekua Bay also hosts unique marine life found nowhere else in Hawaii. While effortlessly gliding through the refreshing waters, Girl Scouts may spot flame angelfish, butterflyfish, lizardfish, and other rarities.
The Captain Cook Monument at Kealakekua Bay State Park was erected by the British, to commemorate this site as the place that Captain James Cook initially made landfall in Hawai'i. It was also the place that he perished. The bay itself holds a fascinating history of festivals, gods, and is a sacred place. All ages are invited to join the cruise and swim, though only juniors and above may snorkel in the bay.
