Brownies are lead through 3 activities which highlight aircraft design and function. The large components of an aircraft are discussed in a brief 2-D assembly activity, then review what they have just learned, using our iconic warbirds. The true tale of Martin Vitousek and his daring escape from the Pearl Harbor attack illustrate aircraft controls and their purposes. Finally, girl scouts visit a real aircraft to see how each control and its control surface works together.
