Women's Self-Defense & Empowerment Course - O'ahu
1162 Bishop St #200, Honolulu, HI 96813
Girls Must attended all 4 Self Defence Sessions: February
7th,14th, 21st and 28th.
Through this course, Girl Scouts will learn how to:
- Be more aware of their surroundings (noting potential danger
through environment, energy, and body language of those around
them)
- How to protect themselves from varying ranges of close
quarter, mid-range, and long range using striking arts such as Jun
Fan Gung Fu, Muay thai, Boxing, Wingchun (trapping)
- How to
use everyday objects (such as an umbrella, water bottle, keys, etc.)
as a weapon in order to create distance and time to be able to
escape to safety and get help
- Gain self-confidence to
trust and build their own instinct and speak up when
necessary.
There are simple self-defense tactics that so often are not taught
right off the bat when learning certain martial arts. Jeet Kune Do
focuses on self-defense for "the street" as well as
adaptation of the curriculum for more up-to-date tactics and
strategies. This will allow any student to understand how to protect
themselves in today's world and situation.
- Jeet Kune Do teaches you how to build each other up as a
team rather than tear each other down.
- It teaches you the confidence to keep your cool even if
someone is coming at you with any kind of physical or emotional
aggression.
- It gives you the tools to be able to handle both of those
situations as well and with efficiency and knowledge.
- It gives perspective on what damage violence can actually
cause, but how to determine when that is necessary before it comes
to you.
- It teaches you to be the decider of your own destiny and
that every choice we make has a reaction. It also teaches you that
you can only control how YOU react to any given situation, and how
to navigate that with more ease and comfort.
- Jeet Kune Do and incredible array of martial arts it
incorporates to be limitless, teaches you how to be calm and
comfortable in uncomfortable situations.
