Sweet Adelines International’s Young Women in Harmony Program has created this program for Girl Scouts to introduce the joy of singing with others in multi-part harmony.

9:15-¬‐9:30 Overview of “Singing in Harmony”
9:30-¬‐11:00 Girls rotate between 3 sessions
• #1 Music Basics: Learn about melody & harmony; understand different styles of music; know solo, duet, trio, and quartet.
• #2 Sing Rounds: Sing a round and make chords.
• #3 Barbershop Basics: Recognize a ballad, an uptune and a swing ballad; compare barbershop with a traditional chorus; watch videos of YWIH in performance
11:00-¬‐11:30 Brown bag lunch
11:30-¬‐12:00 #4 Sing Harmony: Learn & perform songs with harmony parts.
12:00-¬‐12:15 Short practice of rounds and songs learned with all girls
12:15-¬‐12:30 Performance for families. HBSC sings for Girl Scouts. Closing
BYO lunch and snack.
